Week Eight Assignments due July 27, 2013
1) Weekly Literature Blog Entry (20%)- Dialect is an interesting topic in literature. Some people really enjoy reading works with dialect because it helps them to form pictures of people and convey personalities. Other people find it difficult to read or sterotypical and demeaning. Do you believe that the dialect utilizing plantation works were beneficial or negative? Do you prefer the dialect or would rather not read it? In a 100 or more word post, present your opinion using quotes from the works as a evidence to support your opinion. Please make sure you include which author and which part of his work you are discussing. In completing your posts, make sure you are adding to the discussion, not simply stating the same things.
2. Blog responses (10%)- After completing your post, you must respond to two other students posts. You must respond to students who have written about a different author and work posting something of additional value. Students will only receive credit for responses to works they did not use in their original post. Students may respond to additional posts if they like.

4. Vocabulary (15%)- Go to the Sheppards software website and practice SAT/GRE practice Quiz Set 8 Vocab until you score at least a 80%. Post to the blog you create an entry using at least 3 words from this list. Write down in your grammar log any words and definitions that you were unable to answer correctly on the quiz. http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/vocabmania.htm
5. ACT Grammar review (15%)- Go to the ACT website and do the first set of 15 practice ACT grammar questions. If you do not answer a question correctly, write down the question and correct answer in your grammar log. ACT weblink: http://www.actstudent.org/sampletest/english/eng_03.html
6. Your Blog (20%)- Time for a creative blog post. Using dialect, create post telling something that you will enjoy doing this summer. Try to write at least 50 words in your entry.
